
If an embroidery is to serve a design, it must be developed in connection with the make of a garment or object. The embroidery is shaped and prepared in connection with its context, among other movement and light-effects are of vital importance for the result.
It is in the complex combination between mastering a craft and experimentation across materials and technical boundaries, that the embroiderer must exercise and develop their skills and talent.
The full certified program will give a professional approach to the craft based on a thorough technical and theoretical foundation. Each student can, based on the learning objectives form the different modules futherdevelop their own specialization. Furthermore competence is acquired in development of own commercial products, among other price-setting, sourcing, presentation and different forms of collaboration with private customers, designers, artists etc.

Experience techniques, especially within Couture-embroidery
Gain knowledge of and train different processes in the planning of an embroidery.
Obtain an extended knowledge about different embroidery-cultures from popular traditional techniques to the luxury-industry in Europe, Scandinavia and the rest of the world.
Ensure a smooth collaboration between, for instance designer and other craftsmen in the development of a projected embroidery-design and the price-setting hereof.
Incorporate presentation and quality check for the finished product.
In the first module, you will learn to arrange an embroidery as an integral part of the pattern construction of a garment. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of the professional embroidery craft, its tools and processes from, for example, drawing and the further transfer to the fabric.
We work with where and how to acquire knowledge about different embroidery cultures, know-how and their representative meanings.
This course is about developing and organizing embroideries which form part of independent parts of an outfit, for example pockets, collar and cuff pieces or textile jewellery. We practice elegant endings, transitions, borders and edges that, together with the embroidery, become part of the finish.
We look at process and tool-related solutions and ensure the quality of the independent embroidered piece. In addition, the various techniques for translating the naturalistic image into stylized embroidery must be worked on.
Based on the acquired processes and techniques from modules I and II, the embroideries must be developed with a view to application on existing clothing. The applied embroidery makes special demands on material compositions and processes for their assembly.
In addition, we will look at how embroidery can be included as construction and expression-changing elements in clothing, including its potential for extending the life of clothes and customizing for the unique expression.
In the final module, the focus in on development of the good collaboration between embroiderer and designers, scenographers and artists alongside other subjectareas where embroidery is used.
Collaborations spanning different fields are established in connection with the final exam, where each student will develop a final product based on set assignment from the collaborator. In connection with the assignment, knowledge of the commercial aspects in the professional life of an embroiderer is acquired.

We can advise on a lot of practical matters or guide you in the correct direction.
For the embroidery-program there are no formal admission-requirements, but a motivated application must be submitted. After assessing the application an interview is sheduled between the applicant, and the leader of the program.
In the motivated application and during the interview, emphasis is put on former experience, education, motivation and passion.

What is included?
Embroidery-frame, crochets and 2 hooks alongside materials for the curricular tests and trials is included in the tuition-fee.
Materials for the semester- and final exams and a possible fieldtrip abroad is not included in the tuition-fee
Running of the program?
Teaching is ongoing from 09.00hrs untill 17.00hrs, separated by a 30 minute lunchbreak.
Besides the hours in the studio a significant amount of time must be expected for homework/selfstudy to train techniques, research and solving of the set assignments.
At the start of each module the full curriculum is handed out for the semester. The curriculum serves as documentation for the content.
Each module is concluded by an exam which is graded by the ECTS-grade scale has workload, teaching-hours and selfstudy calculated at 15 ECTS. points.
After completion of the full 2-year program, semester- and final exam a title-diploma is issued (Brodeur / Brodeuse) along side a transcipt of the entire program detailing the calculated workload of the different disciplines. (60 ECTS-points)
Title-diploma is ONLY issued after completion of the full program.
The program is planned to ensure the best possible progression in technical and professional level. The skills acquired in each module are being used in more and more complex situations and solutions hereof.
The program is run by the Education Manager alonside highly specialised guest-teachers and lecturers.
Exam are graded by external censors.
